Technology Best Practices
GoSchoolBox recommends reviewing this checklist to ensure a great user experience.
Best Practices
- Restart or shut down computer every Friday
- Ensure strong wifi connection wherever possible
- Lessonspace requirements:
- Close all other video conferencing tabs
- Google meet, Zoom, Microsoft teams, any previous Lessonspace session, etc…
- Close out of any unnecessary tabs
- Ensure that if computers are used by multiple students, each student logs out prior to the next student using the device.
- Join session from the GoSchoolBox platform, not a bookmarked link.
- Students and tutors who have a session built into the school day find the most success in their sessions if students join from their regular classroom environment.
- This limits transition time for the student.
- It provides an environment with less background noise than a shared space.
- If students do need to join from a larger shared space from a cafeteria, we do encourage limiting the number of students in the area to 20 or 30.
- Here is an article on noise cancellation in the Lessonspace which can be very helpful for students joining from an environment with a lot of background noise.
FAQ
- What should I do if I am unable to turn on my camera or microphone?
- Ensure that you have enabled camera and microphone on your browser as well as your computer's system settings.
- Enabling camera and microphone on Google Chrome:

- How do I know if my internet connection is strong enough?
- Run an internet speed test by typing “internet speed test” into Google.
- Lessonspace will show a wifi signal icon on user video feeds if they have low connection.
- If you have low internet speed, try turning your modem on and then off again.
- Move to an area near your modem with strong wifi signal.
- If students in your district are experiencing poor connectivity when connecting at school, check how many Wifi access point they have access to. If there are many devices trying to access limited Wifi access points at the same time it can cause unstable connectivity issues. A solution to this would be to install more wifi access points to the location the users join their sessions.
- Can I have more than 10 people at a time in my virtual session on Lessonspace?
- Any number of users can be in a space at one time. However, only up to 10 people can send and receive audio and/or video at one time. As such, if 10 people are in a room and an 11th person joins they will be able to use the whiteboard and chat functionality as usual but they will neither be able to send nor receive audio/video to/from anyone else in the Space.
- We encourage larger groups to create sessions using other virtual conferencing options rather than Lessonspace if they need audio and video for more than 10 participants.
- What if a student can’t get into clever or classlink?
- If a user is unable to get into their clever or classlink, admins can reset their GoSchoolBox password from the User Roster. This will allow the student to log in directly to the platform and join their session with GoSchoolBox credentials.
- Users should also check with their district IT team for assistance with logging in through Clever or Classlink.
